Transparent conductive films free of rare metals

Zinc oxide (ZnO) is made from abundant material resources and performs outstandingly as a transparent electrode, making it a possible substitute for rare metals in the ITO (indium tin oxide, or tin-doped indium oxide) films used for flat panels. ZnO also exhibits properties superior to ITO in terms of transparency and surface flatness, creating the potential for development of new applications. GEOMATEC can fabricate coatings containing GZO (gallium-doped ZnO) and AZO (aluminum-doped ZnO) with the sputtering method.

Product Construction and Advantages

Because of the abundance of its fundamental ingredient zinc, not to mention its excellent performance as a transparent electrode, ZnO is garnering attention as a substitute material for the ITO in transparent conductive films in flat panel displays.
